The following procedures will apply up to 21st June 2021.
The procedures are subject to Government review and have been compiled following Government and Bowls England guidance.
Members will understand that while a great deal of thought has been put into the club procedures, it’s unlikely that things will all run smoothly from the outset. Adjustments are likely.
The green will open on 17th April 2021.
The green may be used by members for practice from 17th April.
The green may be used only by prior booking.
Members will need to contact Alan Harding to book a rink from 14th April- by phone: email: text or WhatsApp.
Rinks may be booked for the week ahead only.
All 6 rinks will be available, but we are restricted to 24 people maximum on the green. Therefore members may only play singles or pairs.
Booking slots are: 1200-1500; 15:00-18:00; 18:00-21:00.
Only mats and jacks may be used. These must be cleaned before and after use, with the cleaning materials in the equipment shed. No other equipment is to be used.
Spectators are not permitted.
The clubhouse will be opened only to allow access to toilets and the friendly game sign-up and team selection sheets. Please don’t enter the clubhouse for other reasons.
If visiting the club for anything other than playing, please keep your visit short.
Players must arrive dressed to play.
The changing rooms and lockers will not be available.
Members should use the hand sanitiser provided before entering the clubhouse.
The Covid-19 Phone App Check-In QR code is available by the door for members to use. There is a sign-in sheet for you to use should you not wish to use the QR code.
Subject to staff being available, it is intended that the bar will be opened for home friendly fixtures (Wednesday and weekends) and Monday Night Triples. (Arrangements for MNT are outlined below).
Access to the bar will limited to one person at a time until guidance changes. All drinks to be consumed outside until guidance changes.
It is intended that contactless payment will be in place as soon as possible.
A fixture list for April and May is attached to this email. These details are subject to alteration.
Tilehurst President’s Day will now be held 30th August 2021 replacing Fitzroy Triples.
Spring Bank holiday and Eric Eels triples will not take place this season because of restrictions on numbers and catering.
All home fixtures played up until 21st June 2021 will be three triples only. This allows 18 players on the green and provides social distancing by using only alternate rinks.
Away fixtures are shown on the attached list as originally arranged. These may be subject to change by the host club. (Please refer to note below regarding the friendly fixture on Wednesday 28th April v Suttons)
Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday matches are largely friendly games.
Rod Gray has kindly agreed to act as Wednesday captain.
Alan and Sue Jones have kindly agreed to act as Sunday captain.
Richard Frost has kindly agreed to continue as Saturday men’s captain.
The clubhouse will be open thus enabling members to sign up for friendly fixtures and to see if they have been selected.
Up to 21st June, if unable to visit the clubhouse, members may inform the relevant captain of their availability for an upcoming match using email or text/WhatsApp.

Monday night Triples
MNT will start as noted in the fixture list.
Players will not be able to just turn up and play.
Jane Howman will co-ordinate telephone bookings. MNT players can ring Jane between 10.00 and 11.30 on the Saturday before Monday’s game, they can also text a request to play from 10.30 to 16.30 on a Saturday.
Three rinks of triples will play using alternate rinks.
It is hoped that additional MNT sessions will be arranged on evenings other than Monday, subject to green availability.
Along with many other clubs, we will not be offering any catering for our friendly fixtures until after 21st June 2021.
Self-service tea and coffee will be made available, as well as pre-packaged biscuits.
Friendly match fees
Home Match fees will be £1/person instead of the customary £3.
At the moment, it’s not clear how money is going to be collected: information to follow at some point.
Coaching in available on a 1:1 basis by arrangement with Mike Staker
Away fixture v Suttons Wednesday 28th April. Richard Frost will be organising the team for this fixture, which will be four mixed triples using seven rinks. The changing rooms will be closed. People should arrive in their playing kit and there will be a covered area to change shoes. The toilets and bar will be open and drinks orders will be taken in advance. They will be providing a reduced menu such as soup and sausage rolls after the game which will be prepared as per regulations. Suttons will be charging £3 per head. Arrangements for collection of match fees will be decided nearer the time of the fixture.
